What is the Utah Privacy Governing Board?

The Utah Privacy Governing Board is an advisory body established to enhance data privacy practices within state government. Composed of five members, including the governor and legislative leaders, the board meets at least twice a year to recommend changes to state data privacy policies, approve agenda items for the Utah Privacy Commission, and address issues raised by the privacy ombudsperson. Additionally, it evaluates the structure and authority of the Office of Data Privacy and recommends funding strategies to help governmental entities comply with data privacy responsibilities. The board actively engages with stakeholders, ensuring a collaborative approach to privacy governance in Utah.
